I am seeking the location of my great grand father's grave. His name was Richard W. Thornton {Most often listed as R.W. Thornton} - Born about 1836 in NC. - 1840 Census Sampson, NC. - 1850 Wayne, NC. - 1860 Fayetteville, Cumberland, NC. - 1870 Cross Creek, Cumberland, NC. - 1884 Fayetteville, Cumberland, NC. Estimated death 1885 {date taken from probated will}

I have been told by cousin he is buried in or very near Fayetteville NC. It is in a small group of graves on an old farm. Could be inside of the city now. Could be unmarked?

Any help would be appreciated.
