MS - 18 May 1930 Amite Co., MS), s/o Amos R(hodes) PARKER (1802 NC - 23 Jan 1886 Amite Co., MS). The essence of the research is that the Amite Co., MS PARKER family left North Carolina and came to Amite County about 1820. The research lists three related families who made this trek, namely: 1) Elizabeth PARKER family, husband unknown. Children: John Rhodes "Jack" PARKER (8 Oct 1808 NC - 7 Oct 1884 Franklin Co., MS), Elihu Winston PARKER (1820 NC - 1867 Amite Co., MS), Henry Parsons PARKER (Abt 1811 NC - 6 Jan 1867 Amite Co., MS), and Frances Catherine PARKER (Abt 1812 NC - 1843/1847 Amite Co., MS), 2) The family containing the above Amos R. PARKER . Amos has two siblings, Joel PARKER (18 Apr 1800 NC - 14 Sep 1841 MS) and Rebecca Ann PARKER, dates unknown; however, she m. Alfred LOVETT on 7 Dec 1826 in Amite Co., MS. It was stated, in the research papers, that the mother of this family (#2) came with her children from North Carolina to Amite county. The eldest son, Joel PARKER m. the widow of Lewis MAGEE, Jane McGAHEY, on 17 mar 1831. Joel PARKER died in 1841. The Lewis MAGEE/Jane McGAHEY Bible, lists the death of an Elizabeth PARKER on 24 Jan 1837. The 1830 Amite Co., MS Census lists a female over 60 years of in the household of Amos PARKER. This Elizabeth PARKER is probably the mother of Joel, Amos, and Rebecca PARKER, as the 1840 Census lists no female PARKER in the correct age range. 3) A first cousin, Oliver H. PARKER, was reported to have visited the Amite Co., MS PARKERs, per correspondence between Paul L. PARKER, a great grandson of Oliver H. PARKER. Per the correspondence, this Oliver H. PARKER is found in the 1850 Leake Co., MS Census in the household of an Annah PARKER, age 55. Children in HH, Thomas J. PARKER - age 30 b. NC, Francis L. PARKER - age - 28 b. NC, Oliver H. PARKER - age 25 b. MS, and a Louisa J. PARKER - age 18 b. SC. On 2 Sep 1823, an Anna PARKER joined Mars Hill Baptist Church in Amite Co., MS. In Sep 1828 John PARKER joined Mars Hill Baptist Church. The 1830 Amite County Census lists a John PARKER. The 1840 Amite county Census do not list John PARKER; however, the 1840 Leake County Census does list a John PARKER. The Lewis MAGEE/Jane McGAHEY(widow of Joel PARKER) Bible mention above, lists the death of John PARKER 11 Jan 1841. Therefore, it appears that the 3rd family was headed by John PARKER with his wife Elizabeth //, who were in Amite County by Sep 1823. They were still in Amite County as of the Census in 1830, but has moved to Leake County by 1840. Evidently, this is the John PARKER who died in 1841; his widow, Anna PARKER, is listed as head of HH in the 1850 Leake County Census. Per information provided by Amos R. PARKER, mentioned above, he was born and lived until early manhood between Raleigh, North Carolina and the Blue Ridge mountains. Notes for SETH THOMAS LEE: From information gathered by the Four Oaks News Paper Seth Thomas Lee and his family moved to Arkansas in the 1850's and left their young son James William in Johnston County, NC. He grew up in Johnston County and when he was of age he married Elizabeth Barbour daughter of Thomas D. Barbour.
