I've met with some success so far in tracing the waters line from 1850. Sadly, there are lots of waters' and spelling variations (e.g. watress, walters, watters), but its the briant/bryant waters guys I'm after. The 1880 census has Briant Watress (age 89) and Bryant Waters (age 53) residing in Plymouth, Washington, NC. I figure that the 89 year old died before the next census, but I have not been able to locate a death date or location for him.
