   I am researching the Lewis family of Ashe Co., NC. Specifically, I have researched for years the ancestry of "old" Gideon Lewis who was probably born about 1730 and left descendants in Ashe Co., NC. At this point in my research, I am trying to secure as much information as possible on his descendants. If you connect to Gideon Lewis (he also had a son Capt.    I'm not sure if you're still looking for information on Gideon Lewis, but accroding to a Lewis family DNA project (copied below), I descend from Gideon Lewis via his son James Lewis who married Ann Elizabeth Stewart (niece to Daniel Boone) then their son Jesse Lewis m. Miranda Sloan, their son William his daughter Rosetta Lewis m. Thomas J Cole, their daughter Jessie Ophelia Cole m. James William Howard, their daughter Pearl Leota Howard m. Leslie Romeo McWhorter, their son Walter Howard McWhorter is my father.
