I am seeking someone who has done research on the 1700 women who were married to Nathaniel Ayers,Thomas, or thomas,Jr Ayers(same Ayers on the Mt.Airy Museum wall). Elihu Ayers, brother of thomas, received approval for his Revolutionary War Pension in Patrick, but I do not see research on him either, despite the many Ayers and descentants still in the area..(note that one of the wives was called "Barbary")Maybe someone has some history on the use of this name. Elihu's application for Rev.War pension talks about the attempted hanging of William Combs, a Tory.. Does anyone have any more information of this Rev.War story. I am interested here as I descend from the Combs on the other side... Meanwhile, is anyone familiar with the NC GEN Mag publications prior to 1975?? Did the Journal replace this magazine?? thanks
