I'd like to welcome you to the new North Carolina Genealogy forum. It's been a goal for a long time to have a good forum with integration into the site. Some of you may remember the old forum whose posts are still archived, but here you can post new queries. The general discussion area is great for site suggestions. I hope you enjoy the new space! Look for possible template changes as the days go on.

I am new to North Carolina genealogy and I enjoy the wealth of information on your site.I live in Massachusetts and am helping my daughter-in-law trace her Chase descendants from Newbury, MA to Vineyard Haven on Martha's Vineyard to Nantucket. I have found Zimri Chase b. 12/11/1758,,Quaker, son of Stephen & Dinah (Folger) who left Nantucket for North Carolina, abt. 1790. In 1791 Zimri married Dinah Barnard,( Dau. of Tristram Barnard & Margaret(Folger)) also a Quaker, in Stokes County. My Brickwall is the children that Zimri & Dinah had while in North Carolina before they moved to Silver Creeek MM in Ill. by 1824.Did Zimri have a son John who married Elizabeth Holey, also from North Carolina?
Thank you

Thanks very much and good luck with your research. I haven't researched this family myself, but hopefully someone will have the information you're looking for.

I am searching for information on Christopher Columbus Kyle who moved from NC to Florida in the early 1800's, his wife, children, siblings, date of emigration from Ireland, etc.
Any info would be wonderful.Posted 1 year ago # -
It might be good to post an inquiry in the General Statewide Queries forum. Be sure to make a descriptive topic title like "Christopher Columbus Kyle early 1800s".
Good luck!

Hi JoKyle,
I just wanted to let you know at this stage,
I have a quite close Y-DNA match with the Kyle
family, and also the Hollingsworth family whom
I believe was from NC (James Hollingsworth about 1782)
My paternal line is Ainsworth. We are trying to work out the connections, I have forwarded
your post on to the mentioned families to see what transpires.

hi, doing geno for 2 yrs. negroes surnamed blue from aberdeen, southern pines, pinehurst, north carolina. grandfather name booker tafferio blue sr. born in aberdeen based on my parent and birth certificate. age varies on birth certificate could have been born 1898-1906. no record of him until 1930 census in aberdeen married to my grandmom. but was living near a mack and nora blue..mack blue had a son name clyde blue i was told prior to marrying nora matthews in 1904...maybe his was my grandpop's dad. i don't know. but my granddad dies in sept 28, 1958-in jacksonville florida at 1 am . he was ran over by a trunk in a alley. the death certificate shows no parents just the body take to southern pines north carolina. no funeral home in nc.the funeral home in fla. said those paper record would be buried and that they were busy. i truly would like to find the blood connection with the blue family. he married teresa rankin(s) who was adopted per census in 1920 by dr william jones rankin and elizabeth rankin of aberdeen n.c, southern pines, lexington, oxford, cape fear, and graham where the death certificates states he died. dr rankin opened sarah lincoln academy and the school was named somethin different, 3 different names be4 finally called sarah lincoln academy in aberdeen north carolina. i would like to know why there no fanfared for dr. rankin. did he fall from grace-he was born 7-1-1861 in the stat esville area. any information would help..i do have a good deal of information on the rankins' except for his wife mattie elizabeth. oh, i discover that my grandmom, teresa died in 2004--a lady name queenie waddell of southern pines had a rest home and took my grandmom to waterbuty conn. with her. queenie dies in2003 at 83 in nebraska and my granny dies in a nursing home at 97 the following years..this is sad, exciting and weighty. thanks for letting me share and vent|

Thanks for posting and welcome to the forum. I started in genealogy research when I was younger and the thing that broke my heart the most was seeing records of infants dying. These days though I find myself thinking more about my grandparents and great-aunts and great-uncles, aunts and uncles that have already passed on. It certainly is a bittersweet hobby. Good luck with your search!
